Each panel is padded and upholstered in Dakota antique faux leather, the same wipe-clean 248gsm fabric we use on our simulator seating – chosen because ball marks are nearly invisible on the antique finish and it won’t crack or peel under spotlights.

TEKDEN golf simulator wall panels are luxury upholstered impact pads, handmade in our own workshop and made to order. They protect the walls and ceiling of your simulator room from stray balls and club follow-through, soften the echo you get from bare plasterboard, and turn a functional garage or spare room into a space that actually looks like a golf studio.

Each panel is upholstered in Dakota, our own heavyweight antique faux leather. It is the same fabric we use on our simulator seating, chosen because ball marks are nearly invisible on the antique finish, it wipes clean, and it will not crack, peel or dry out under spotlights the way cheap vinyl does.

Available in two standard sizes, 600 x 600mm and 1200 x 600mm, in five antique leather shades, with bespoke sizing for awkward walls, sloped ceilings and boxed-in pillars. Choose Your Finish

All five shades are cut from the same Dakota antique faux leather, so you can mix colours across a room and know the texture and sheen will match. Select a colour above to see the finish.

  • Black – Matte antique black with a faint grain. The default choice for a dark, cinema-style bay where the screen is the only bright thing in the room.
  • Steel Grey – Cool mid-grey with a slate undertone. Pairs well with light walls and grey turf without making the room feel closed in.
  • Dark Brown – Deep, slightly red-brown, reminiscent of a well-worn Chesterfield. A warm, traditional clubhouse look.
  • Beige – Warm sand and camel, the lightest in the range. Best for smaller rooms and garage conversions where you want to keep things feeling open.
  • Saddle – Classic tan, the most vintage of the five. Strong choice against dark timber or a green baize feature wall.

How Many Panels Do You Need?

Each 600 x 600mm panel covers 0.36m². Each 1200 x 600mm panel covers 0.72m². As a rough planning guide for a typical home simulator bay:

Upholstered Panels vs Foam Tiles vs DIY

Most golf simulator wall padding falls into three camps, and they suit different budgets.

  • Foam tiles are the cheapest way to cover a wall and they do absorb impact, but exposed foam marks easily, picks up scuffs, and always looks like acoustic foam rather than part of the room.
  • DIY panels – plywood, foam and a roll of faux leather – give a great result if you have the tools, the space to work and a free weekend. Plenty of people do it, and we sell the Dakota fabric by the metre if that is your plan.
  • Upholstered panels like these are the finished version: cut square, padded, wrapped and stapled properly, ready to hang. You pay more than foam, and you skip the build.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many golf simulator wall panels do I need?
Work out the area you want to cover in square metres and divide by 0.36 for the 600 x 600mm panels, or 0.72 for the 1200 x 600mm panels. A single 2.5m x 2.4m side wall needs roughly 17 small or 9 large panels. See the planning table above, or send us your room dimensions and we will do it for you.
Can these panels go on the ceiling as well as the walls?
Yes. Thinned or topped shots that catch the ceiling are one of the most common causes of damage in a home simulator, so the ceiling directly above and just in front of the mat is worth panelling. For ceiling installs we recommend mechanical fixing rather than adhesive alone. Tell us it is a ceiling job when you order and we will advise on fixings.
Which size should I choose?
The 1200 x 600mm panels cover ground faster with fewer joins, which suits long uninterrupted walls. The 600 x 600mm panels are easier to handle single-handed, work better around sockets, switches and pillars, and let you create patterns or two-tone layouts. Many rooms use both.
Will they help with echo in the room?
A bare simulator room with plasterboard walls and a hard floor is a very live space, and covering a large area in soft, padded upholstery takes the hard edge off that. These are impact protection panels first and foremost rather than engineered acoustic treatment, so if echo is your main concern, treat them as a useful side benefit and talk to us about combining them with dedicated acoustic panels.
How are the panels installed?
Adhesive, screws or hook-and-loop fasteners, depending on your wall construction and whether you want them to come off again later. Hook-and-loop is popular with renters and anyone who might reconfigure the room. Tell us your wall type when you order and we will recommend the right method.
Do golf balls mark the fabric?
This is exactly why we use Dakota. The antique finish has a subtle grain and a broken-in tone that hides ball marks far better than a flat, uniform vinyl. Most marks wipe off with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid solvents, bleach and scouring pads, which will damage the finish.
Can I order custom sizes?
Yes. Bespoke sizing is available for sloped ceilings, boxed-in pillars, part-rows and non-standard walls. Since every panel is made to order anyway, custom sizes do not significantly extend the lead time. Send your dimensions and we will quote.
Can I mix colours?
Yes, and it looks good done deliberately. All five shades are the same Dakota fabric, so the texture and sheen match across colours. A common approach is a darker shade behind the screen and a lighter one on the side walls to keep the room feeling open.
What is the lead time?
These are handmade in-house to order, so lead time depends on the size of your order and our current workshop queue. Contact us for current lead times and we will confirm an estimated delivery date when you place your order.
Can I see the fabric before I commit?
Yes. We sell A4 swatches of all five Dakota shades for £2 each on the Dakota fabric listing. Worth doing if you are colour-matching to existing furniture or turf, since screens and room lighting never quite tell the truth.
