What is a 400mm x 600mm insert actually for?
Two main jobs. The first is replacing the hitting area of an existing mat once the strike zone has worn flat but the rest of the mat is still fine — you cut out the worn patch and drop this in. The second is building a dedicated tee-up spot into a putting turf or laminate floor, so you get a proper strike surface exactly where you swing without covering the whole bay.
Can I use this for wedge practice and short game?
Yes. The 29mm pile and smooth swing-through give realistic feedback across the bag, from full swings down to delicate chips. Because the club is not grabbed at impact, a thin or fat strike feels like a thin or fat strike rather than being masked by the mat.
Does it come with a backing board or shock pad?
No. This is the turf surface on its own, with cut edges rather than bound ones, so it sits flush when dropped into an existing mat or floor. If you are laying it onto a hard floor such as concrete, we would recommend putting foam underlay beneath it to protect your wrists and elbows.
